La Salle Mae Hong Son (LSMHS) is a private Catholic school run by the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools.<\/p>

As a response to the challenge of improving the lives of the Hill Tribe students of Khun Mae La Village in Mae Hong Son Region in Thailand, LSMHS is set to open in 202X led by Brother Matthew Chumkhamta FSC.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Bridging the gap.<\/h2>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

LSMHS will offer Secondary Education to students in Khun Mae La and nearby villages and towns. The School aims to cater to 500 students in the Grade 7th to the Grade 12th.<\/p>

Currently, there is no secondary school in Khun Mae La or any nearby town. The students who want to further their education past the Gade 6th need to move to other province or places far away from their home. Needless to say, the establishment of LSMHS will not only offer opportunity for secondary education in the area, but will also serve as a bridge for students to pursue Higher Education at the Jesuit Center or other universities in the other provinces.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

By filling the gap in Secondary Education in the area, LSMHS also aims to strengthen the bonds and family ties among the Karen and Hmong tribes as the students will no longer need to sacrifice time by moving away from their families and communities in pursuit of education.<\/p>

Furthermore, the establishment of LSMHS will open new job opportunities for the local people and those who have finished their university study.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Transferring the right of the land use cannot be done in January 2021 because of the pandemic. The land belong to the Thailand government's forest department. The La Salle Foundation has to apply for the lease of the land for 30 years. This is the common practice in Thailand.
